How to prevent hydrogen assisted cracking during submerged arc welding?

Cracking is the process whereby complex organic molecules such as kerogens or heavy hydrocarbons are broken down into simpler molecules (e.g. light hydrocarbons) by the breaking of carbon-carbon bonds in the precursors.

One of the main problems associated with the welding of ferritic steels is that of hydrogen cracking also known as cold cracking or delayed cracking. The paper explains the welding procedure of hydrogen testing using SAW (submerged arc welding) process. Different methods of measurement of diffusible hydrogen and methods of hydrogen testing are also covered
